Boston is one of the oldest cities in the United States, founded on the Shawmut Peninsula in 1630 by Puritan settlers from England.

It was the scene of several key events of the American Revolution. The Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, the Battle of Bunker Hill, and the Siege of Boston.

Upon gaining U.S. independence from Great Britain, it continued to be an important port and manufacturing hub. The city has expanded beyond the original peninsula through land reclamation and municipal annexation.

Its rich history attracts many tourists, with Faneuil Hall alone drawing more than 20 million visitors per year.

Many Irish families from the famine period travelled to Boston and made it home. Hence the very strong ties it has with Ireland.

Rugby is also played in the city with rugby clubs located around and outside the city.

There will be no shortage of a game for sure.

Fenway Park

Fenway Park is the baseball park located in Boston near Kenmore Square.

Since 1912 it has been the home for the Boston Red Sox.

The city’s American League baseball team and since 1953 its only Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise. It is the oldest ballpark in MLB.

Because of its age and constrained location in Boston’s dense Fenway–Kenmore neighbourhood, the park has been renovated or expanded many times.

It’s the fourth-smallest among MLB ballparks by seating capacity, second-smallest by total capacity, and one of eight that cannot accommodate at least 40,000 spectators.

Baseball is based on the English game of Rounders with its own variations and rules.

Ice Hockey

The Boston Bruins are the professional ice hockey team based in Boston.

They are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).

The team has been in existence since 1924 and is the league’s third-oldest team overall and the oldest in the United States. It’s also an Original Six franchise.

Fellow members are the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Montreal Canadians, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Bruins have won six Stanley Cup championships, tied for fourth most of all-time with the Blackhawks and tied second-most of any American NHL team also with the Blackhawks behind the Red Wings, who have 11.

Ice Hockey is one of the fastest sports in the world and definitely not to be missed.
