Madrid Zoo - Irish Rugby Tours To Madrid

Madrid Zoo

Madrid Zoo Aquarium is a 20-hectare 49-acre zoo and aquarium located in the Casa de Campo in Madrid.

Opened 1770, one of the largest zoos in Spain and one of the few zoos in the world that houses giant pandas.

In 1978, China presented the King of Spain with two giant pandas Shao Shao and Quian Quiang.

Their cub, Chu-lin, born in 1982, died in 1996. Chu-lin was the first panda born in captivity using artificial insemination in Europe.

The zoo is now home to giant pandas Bing Xing (M) and Hua Zui Ba (F), who arrived in 2007.

Twin cubs, Po and De De, were born to them on 7 September 2010. They were conceived via artificial insemination.

Madrid Funfair

Madrid Fun Fair (Parque de Atracciones de Madrid), is the most complete city leisure park in Spain.

The history of Madrid’s fun fair goes back to 1969,  with many attractions such as the 7 Picos rollercoaster.

Today the park is distributed over small zones, each with its own theme, offering innovative attractions.

A great day out for all your team mates whatever age you are.

White Knuckle rides for all you adrenalin junkies.

Madrid Open Market

El Rastro de Madrid or simply is the most popular open air flea market in Madrid.

It is held every Sunday and public holiday during the year and is located along Plaza de Cascorro and Ribera de Curtidores.

A great variety of products can be found at El Rastro. Old and new the choice is yours.

El Rastro means “the trail”. The market probably owes its name to the tanneries that were once located in Ribera de Curtidores ‘riverside of tanners’.

Close by, on the banks of the Manzanares River, was an abattoir. Transporting the slaughtered cattle from the abattoir to the tannery left a trail of blood along the street.

Bernabeu Stadium Tour

The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is the home stadium of Real Madrid. Completed in 1947, with a current seating capacity of 81,044.

Santiago Bernabéu is one of the world’s most famous football venues. It has hosted the European Cup/Champions League Cup on four occasions.

The final matches for the 1964 European Nations’ Cup and the 1982 FIFA World Cup, were also held at the Bernabéu. Thus making it the first stadium in Europe to host both a EUFA European Championship and a FIFA World Cup final.
